While talking to Will about dogs, l mused about what the combination of my two favorite breeds, German Shepard and Poodle would be like.
"No good" he said, "One side would be constantly trying to surrender to the other".

Thinking about a "designer dog"?
Well, let me fill you in on a little secret. When you take two great breeds of dogs and combine them, you don't necessarily get another great dog. For example, take a ChiPom. That would be the combination of a lap-searching Chihuahua and a small independent northern breed, a Pomeranian. How do think that dog's mind works? Does he want to be lovey, stick to his person, cuddle with his person and be at his right hand? Or does he want to be independent, free thinking, and not so needy? It's like combining two great foods...you like cake and you like potatoes, but combining them? Not so tasty. The beauty of purebred dogs is that they are bred for an intended purpose. When you do your homework and decide what you are looking for in a dog, most likely there is a purebred dog to meet your needs. Mixing two breeds creates inconsistent and sometimes unexpected physical and mental results.
